Maura Goodwin (M.M. Sacred Music, 2017) has recently been appointed the Associate Director of Music at St. Agnes Cathedral in the Diocese of Rockville Centre, Long Island, NY. She will be working with the Director to further the music program at the Cathedral. Currently the music program consists of the Cathedral Chorale, the Choir of Men and Boys, the Junior and Senior Girls' Choir and a Children's Choir. Maura will be working with the Junior and Senior Girls as well as the Children's Choir. She grew up on Long Island and is very excited to share the beauty of sacred music in her diocese.
Maura is a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio, where is received degrees in Theology, Catechetic, and Sacred Music in 2015. At Steubenville, she studied organ under the direction of Nicholas Will, who is also a graduate of Duquesne. Maura continued her education and in the spring of 2017 finished her Master's degree in Sacred Music, studying the organ with Dr. Ann Labounsky. She had previously served as the Music Director at St. Juan Diego in Sharpsburg, PA, the weekday organist at St. Mary Mercy, downtown Pittsburgh, and the Assistant Organist at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Carnegie, PA.
Maura is grateful to Duquesne University and her teachers for giving her the opportunity to learn and bring Sacred Music to others. Maura would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ann Labounsky, Dr. Caron Daley, her choral instructor, and Nicholas Will for a wonderful education.
