Michael hosted The Pittsburgh Promise's "A Night of Promise" gala at the Wyndham Grand on November 2, 2019. He was selected as one of four featured alumni of The Pittsburgh Promise, which invests in scholarships for graduates of Pittsburgh Public Schools. Headlining the event was Leslie Odom Jr., a Carnegie Mellon University graduate and one of the original stars of the Broadway smash hit musical "Hamilton." Odom's performance during the gala featured Warren joining him onstage for a rendition of "Dear Theodosia" from "Hamilton," which was captured in this video. The gala, and Warren's role in it, was reviewed in the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

While at Duquesne, Michael Warren excelled, moving quickly through his degree programs. During his senior year he became the first Duquesne University student to win the Campus Superstar competition, a professionally produced singing competition hosted by Hillel Jewish University Center of Pittsburgh which awards $5000 in scholarship money to the winner. After graduating with his bachelor's degree in music education, he completed his Master of Education program at Duquesne in only one year. At present, he is working on a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership, also at Duquesne University.

Currently, Michael is Director of Choirs in the Avonworth School District. He also is a Minister of Music at Trinity AME Zion Church and sings the National Anthem at Pittsburgh Penguins games. His remarkable story was highlighted in this Pittsburgh Promise video.
