Campus Sustainability Reports

Duquesne University Class Ring in GrassDuquesne is the first university in western Pennsylvania and one of only a few in the state to conduct regular Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventories on the University's carbon footprint. The University has played a leading role in moving other schools in the region to undertake similar studies and to direct the region as a whole toward environmental stewardship.

In 2019, the Center for Environmental Research and Education completed its first STARS Report, earning a Bronze Rating. STARS (Sustainability Tracking, Assessment, and Reporting System) is a campus sustainability assessment tool developed by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE)

The STARS report earned Duquesne University a spot in the Sierra Club's annual Cool Schools Ranking which feature institutions of higher education showing a commitment to campus sustainability. Find the full list here
