The Duquesne student chapter of the American Society for Microbiology is for those students whose interests lie in microbiology and bacteriology. The group organizes student-planned field trips and projects.

American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB)

The American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) student chapter at Duquesne is dedicated to the advancement of undergraduate research and education in biochemistry and molecular biology. The Molecular Biology Concentration in the Department of Biological Sciences at Duquesne is accredited by ASBMB.

In addition to the opportunity to participate in local student activities, student members receive free membership to ASBMB. This membership provides access to the following: ASBMB-related journals publications related to graduate education and career choices, awards and scholarships.

The graduate students of the Department of Biological Sciences make up a diverse and vibrant scientific community that is intrinsic to the functioning of the Biology laboratories. They have come from all over the world, from different scientific backgrounds, to advance in their development as great scientists. They also have an exciting opportunity to become brilliant teachers; almost all of the graduate students are teaching assistants for the majority of their time at the Bayer School. It is a close-knit group of students, faculty and staff, that cultivates an excellent environment to learn, teach and do amazing scientific research.

SIGMA's goal is to provide underrepresented and underprivileged high school students in the Pittsburgh area with experience in laboratory sciences. We seek to promote scientific innovation and discovery among students who do not have access to similar resources. Our mentors are here to motivate and guide them into college with a science degree as their goal. We hope to make the dream of a higher education possible to all students. This organization is a partnership between the Bayer School at Duquesne University and The Citizen Science Lab.
