SANE (Adult/Adolescent) Clinical Preceptor Course

Enrolling for Summer2022

About the Course

Nurses will experience hands-on preceptorship with experienced SANEs to prepare them to return to their areas of clinical practice. The course includes an opportunity to practice a mock exam on a professional live standardized patient who has been trained to portray a sexual assault scenario and undergo a full sexual assault exam. Learn more about the standardized patients with whom we work.

You will also complete a two-hour pelvic training as part of the offering. This is intentionally scheduled for the evening prior to the first full class day, typically from 5-7 p.m., so that it doesn't disrupt or add to your travel. Total time commitment for the course is 2.25 days.

This course serves as the "preceptorship" portion of the national certification offered through IAFN (International Association of Forensic Nurses). All training is consistent with the standards of practice as defined by the IAFN.
