We are excited to offer the APhA Pharmacy Based Travel Health Program virtually! The Pharmacy-Based Travel Health Services program is an innovative and interactive advanced competency training (ACT) program that explores the pharmacist's role in providing travel health services to patients. This application-based activity is the first step for pharmacists interested in learning the essential skills necessary to successfully provide travel health services. To participate in this program, pharmacists must have completed the APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate-Training program and received a Certificate of Achievement or have previously completed an immunization training program and be authorized to provide immunizations in the state in which they practice.
Pharmacists have been integral as the healthcare community continues to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic response. Please see below for more information about the program.
This program will be delivered via live webinar using Zoom. In order for participants to successfully complete the "Live Session" portion of the program and receive an attendance code, the participant must be present for the entire duration of the program. We strongly participants utilize the video the functionality to enhance the online experience and increase engagement.
Due to the virtual nature of the program, participants will be required to obtain necessary supplies and identify an "evaluator" in order to complete the injection technique assessment.
There are two components to the program:
- 6 hour-long (0.60 CEU) web-based self-study modules with case studies and assessment exam
- 4.0-hour (0.40 CEU) live seminar with assessment exam

Reservations for the program cannot be held until the registration fee is received. Cancellations received in writing (via email) at least seven days prior to the program will receive a refund minus a $25 cancellation fee if an access code to learning material was not processed. If the access code was processed, a refund minus a $150 cancellation fee will be provided. Please contact the program coordinator if you need to cancel your registration. Duquesne University reserves the right to cancel the program at any point in time. In that event, each participant will be notified via email and a full refund will be made.
All communications will be sent to the email address submitted at the time of registration. It is the participant's responsibility to ensure that the email address submitted is correct. If you need to communicate with the Certificate Program coordinator, please communicate using the email address used for registration.
Please note that communications may be delayed during observed University holidays.
To ensure an environment conducive to effective communication, please follow the Zoom Etiquette guidelines in the link below when participating in any Zoom meeting. If a participant does not adhere to the guidelines listed, they will be asked to leave the meeting and must take the course at a different time. Faculty reserve the right to remove a participant for distracting or inappropriate behavior. If a future offering is not available, the participant understands that a refund will not be available.
