Duquesne University School of Pharmacy Center For Integrative Health
The Duquesne University School of Pharmacy Center for Integrative Health trains the next generation of pharmacists and healthcare practitioners to address healthcare disparity in rural and urban settings and improve health equity in the Pittsburgh region and beyond. School of Pharmacy student pharmacists, faculty and staff work through the Center for Integrative Health to provide free health screenings, health information and recommendations for further care to medically underserved communities.
"The Center for Integrative Health at Duquesne University partnered with the existing resources in neighborhoods and has supported organizations so that we could overcome the barriers that were also identified," Dr. Jennifer Elliott, Director of the Center for Integrative Health and Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, says. "It starts with the community. They're the foundation. I think that what's so special about what we've built, is that we work with communities to identify needs and to promote health equity."
Programs offered through the Center for Integrative Health in collaboration with a diverse group of community partners include:
- Community-based asthma clinics
- Health screenings and information
- Medication therapy management
- Smoking cessation classes
- Employee health
- Immunizations and travel health programs
And the list continues to grow as the Center for Integrative Health continues to expand.
