Newsmaker: Suzanne Higginbotham
Noteworthy: Received the Ten Under Ten Award from the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association during its annual conference Sept. 20. in Marshall. She is one of 10 outstanding pharmacists that the association said demonstrates commitment to the profession, involvement in the PPA and other pharmacy associations or service to their community.
Family: Husband, Paul, 35; children Giavanna, 3, and Grayson, 1
Occupation: Director of the Academic Research Center for Pharmacy Care at Duquesne University. The center has conducted outreach programs including Wellness in Motion Medication Therapy management, off-campus flu clinics, and screening 1,425 patients at five local food banks for blood pressure, cholesterol, bone density and body composition.
Education: Bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry from Ohio State University in 2005; doctorate of pharmacy from the Duquesne University Mylan School of Pharmacy in 2008. Also completed a two-year academic and research fellowship with the pharmacy school.
