Visiting Italian Students Hosted at Farewell Reception

Mylan School of Pharmacy

A group of 25 School of Pharmacy faculty and graduate students attended a farewell reception for three visiting Italian pharmacy students on Wednesday, November 6. The School of Pharmacy Division of Clinical, Social and Administrative Sciences sponsored the event, which was held in the Bayer Learning Center. As part of the Agreement of Collaboration between Duquesne University School of Pharmacy and the Università degli Studi di Perugia, Facoltà de Farmacia, established by Dean Bricker and Dean Rossi in 2009, the students, Aida Avdo, Irene Dell-Anno, and Raffaele Senatore, spent three months of their required six-month practicum experience at Duquesne learning about the American healthcare system and how pharmacy is taught and practiced in the United States.

The Italian students presented a lecture at the farewell luncheon, which was the culmination of their three-month visit to Duquesne. During their stay, the students attended classes, visited clinical sites where faculty and students were located, attended wellness screening events and enjoyed all that the University and the city of Pittsburgh provided for them.

The students told Patricia A. Keys Pharm.D., Division Head for Clinical, Social and Administrative Sciences, that they learned quite a bit of valuable information during their stay. Dr. Keys said the students were excited to share what they had learned upon their return to Italy.
