Spend the month of May studying in Trinidad ...
The Duquesne University Maymester: Trinidad gives students the opportunity to have a rich study abroad experience and to stay on track with their studies. Designed with Education students in mind, but open to all students in the University, this 4-week program will immerse students in the educational and musical contexts of the culturally and ethnically diverse island of Trinidad, in the southern Caribbean.
Located as the southern-most island in the Caribbean, it is just under 2,000 square miles with a population of about 1.3 million people. Formerly part of the Spanish, French, and British empires, and populated by the descendants of indigenous Tainos, Europeans, Africans, Asians, and Arabs, the island boasts distinctive cultural blends, creole cuisines, and music influenced by a fusion of all these cultural interactions. The smaller island of Tobago, which is the other island in the twin island state, is known for its beaches and hummingbirds. Students will be housed in air-conditioned comfort overlooking the picturesque Queens Park Savannah in the capital, Port-of Spain, and when not engaged in site visits, will be having sessions at the nearby Sydney Opera house-styled performing arts building of UTT. Experience the cultures, music, food, beaches and friendly people of Trinidad and Tobago.
