Management

In the Management major and minor, learners develop the capabilities needed to responsibly manage the people who drive organizational performance. They also explore how to build sustainable organizations that foster cooperative relationships with government, the community, labor unions, non‑governmental organizations, and other external stakeholders. The program equips learners with the knowledge and skills needed for managerial roles across industries and organizational contexts.

Learners build strengths in areas like talent and performance management, workforce strategy, and employee well‑being and success. They also develop a strong foundation in decision‑making, personnel management, project management, and leadership, preparing them for roles such as government staff manager, compliance manager, health services manager, and human resource manager.

Because management skills enhance nearly every business discipline, the major pairs well with other programs in the Palumbo‑Donahue School of Business. Management courses complement majors such as Marketing, Information Systems and Technology, Finance, and Accounting, preparing learners for future managerial roles in these disciplines. Learners completing another major take four required Management courses plus two Management electives, each of which can count toward a second major.
