Three credits of MUEN large ensemble courses meet the requirement for Bridges Communication and Creative Expression.

Several Essential Questions Seminars also meet PHIL and/or THEO requirements.

Eight semesters of small ensemble and/or chamber music are required. Students choose from among the following, in consultation with their program advisor: MUEN 116: Jazz Guitar Ensemble, MUEN 120: Classical Guitar Ensemble, MUPF 212: Chamber Music—Strings.

Physics 170—Acoustics is recommended. Available in spring semesters only.

Offered in fall semesters of odd-numbered years. Students enroll concurrently in both courses. Each class is a half-semester long. Students will start the semester in Career Perspectives in Music I and switch to Career Perspectives in Music II halfway through the semester. Details of course dates are available in the university’s academic calendar.

Occurs each spring—string players should take it the spring semester of even-numbered years, before Gutiar-Elec Bass Pedagogy (whichtypically occurs in fall semestes of even-numbered years).
