Important Changes to Self-Service Banner (SSB) Registration

The Self-Service Banner registration system will be upgraded from Version 8 to Version 9 beginning with this registration cycle.

Beginning March 2, 2020, when you log on to Self-Service Banner, after you click STUDENT INFORMATION, you will see two new options: ENHANCED SELF-SERVICE BANNER (Version 9) and BASIC SELF-SERVICE (Version 8). The Version 8 link will take you to the interface you used in the past to register for classes.

The Version 9 link will take you to the new and enhanced version of registration and related functions. In Version 9, you will be able to create schedule plans in advance of registration. When it is time for you to register, you will be able to add your classes from your plan directly onto your schedule to expedite the registration process. In addition, you can prepare plans that your advisor can review and approve online in advance of registration.

Here is What You Need to Know!

Registration-Summer and Fall 2020

Registration for current students for Summer and Fall 2020 will begin on Monday, March 23, 2020, and most time tickets are staggered based on a student’s class year or level. Most students can use Self-Service Banner (SSB) to register for classes online. Self-Service Banner is accessed through DORI, the University’s portal. Students must have a Multipass account to log on to DORI and access the Banner system. All degree-seeking students except first-semester freshmen receive time tickets to register for classes, and the table below identifies the online start- and end-times for registration for each class year.

Time tickets are assigned two weeks prior to the start of registration. To check your time ticket in Self-Service Banner, go to Student Information > Registration > Registration Status.

First-semester freshmen will be registered by their academic advisors for their first semester and may use SSB for subsequent semesters.

Plan Your Courses for Registration with RAPP

RAPP (Review Academic Program Progress) is a tool for students to review their progress through their academic programs and identify the classes they still need to take. Students considering changing their academic program may also use RAPP to review how their coursework to date applies to the new program, and which additional courses must still be fulfilled. Please note that this is not an official degree evaluation and is intended only for the purposes of registration planning.

To use RAPP, log into DORI, then go to Self-Service Banner > Student Information > Enhanced Self-Service Banner (Version 9) > Student Profile > Review Academic Program Progress (RAPP).


Prepare for Registration

Since online registration will begin before the University opens for the day, it is critical that you confirm your ability to register for classes before your Registration Time Ticket begins. Check in Self-Service Banner for holds that stop registration, and make sure you have a Registration Time Ticket.

Also, take time to review duq.edu/banner for important upgrade changes beginning with this registration cycle.


Summer 2020

The online registration period for Summer 2020 runs from March 23 through May 11, 2020. If you wish to register after May 11 for a class that begins after May 11, see your advisor. All students should review the Summer 2020 Drop, Withdrawal Deadlines and Refund Policy.

Fall 2020

Use the chart below to determine your online registration start-date and time. First-semester freshmen will be registered by their academic advisors for their first semester and may use Self-Service Banner to register in subsequent semesters.

The final registration and add/drop period for Fall 2020 is August 24-28 for all undergraduate and graduate students.

April 14, 2020 7:00am Undergraduates with 30+ earned credits
April 21, 2020 7:00am Undergraduates with fewer than 30 earned credits (excluding first-semester freshmen)
May 11, 2020 11:59pm Last day to register online for Summer 2020
August 24-28, 2020 Final registration for undergraduate and graduate students for Fall 2020
August 28, 2020 11:59pm Last day to register, change class schedules, or cancel registration for Fall 2020
