Leah Pidgeon

My Summer

Hello! My name is Leah Pidgeon, and I'm from Indiana, Pennsylvania, which is about an hour away from Duquesne's campus! I transferred to Duquesne after my first year of college, and it was the best decision I have ever made. I am on track to graduate in May of 2021 with a major in Corporate Communication, a minor in Advertising and Public Relations, and a certificate in Business Management.

This summer I am, and have been, living in Pittsburgh working as a receptionist for UPMC Canterbury Place, which is a relatively new job for me given that I needed to find a new job since everything happened with COVID-19. I have been taking one online class this summer to finish my University Core credits, and, thankfully, it only lasts throughout half of the summer. This summer has been very good to me so far, given all current and past circumstances. I am so looking forward to the fall semester. I will be living in an off-campus house with two of my best friends and living near tons more! Staying positive is always a must. I have been staying connected with my Duquesne friends since the middle of March, given that most of them never left the city, either. I am just so excited for everyone to be back to help make my final year at Duquesne the best as possible.

As places begin to open back up, I have been spending lots of time with my friends at restaurants in their outside seating. I had never been so happy to hear a server ask me if I'd like to start off with any appetizers when I went to Primanti's (which was the first restaurant I went to when Allegheny County went into the green phase). I just can't express enough how excited I am to begin my senior year, because as long as I'm surrounded by all of my best friends, it will still be an amazing year.
