Martin Luther King Jr. Prayer Breakfast
The Allegheny County Bar Association's Homer S. Brown Division will host its Annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast and Program on Monday, January 20th at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 2001 Wylie Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. The breakfast and program commemorates the life of Dr. King and his contributions that led to changes in law and social justice.
The buffet breakfast begins at 7:30 a.m. and will be followed by a brief program at 8:30 a.m. During the breakfast, HSBD will present the 2020 Drum Major for Justice Award to the Hon. Dwayne Woodruff and Joy Maxberry Woodruff. Judge Woodruff has served as a judge on the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas since 2005. Prior to being elected judge, Judge Woodruff had a 12-year career as a defensive back with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Judge Woodruff and his wife, Joy, are also heavily involved in many efforts to promote justice, equality and opportunity within the region. The name of the award originates from one of Dr. King's final sermons about a eulogy that might be given in the event of his death.
