Biography

Lorraine Sauchin is a full-time Instructor of Computer Science with over 30 years of experience in Information Technology.

Prior to coming to Duquesne, Prof. Sauchin had extensive experience in professional software development and Information Technology Consulting. Her professional career includes experience as a programmer, systems analyst, software developer, implementation project manager, and manager of consulting services. She has worked for some of the world's largest consulting organizations as well as international software development firms. Her international experience includes projects throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Puerto Rico, and Canada.

In recent years, her consulting has focused on the non-profit sector, helping small non-profits adapt and effectively utilize computer technology for business needs.

An avid traveler, Prof. Sauchin has worked with the Semester at Sea study abroad program several times, including an around-the-world voyage.

She lives in Morningside, PA with her husband Kris.

Generally my course load involves teaching computer coding, algorithmic thinking and other technology topics to non-Computer Science majors. I also teach upper level courses in the online Computer Science and Technology program. As a life-long computer professional, I know the value of understanding and keeping up with the rapid changes in technology.
