Biography
Dr. Mary Esther Van Shura is currently an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Pittsburgh, and her position in the area of Administrative and Policy Studies (ADMPS) focuses on elements of social and political dynamics impacting school districts and community engagement.
Previously, she served as the Director of Community Affairs in the office of Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald. In this capacity, she interfaced on issues of disabilities, older adults, food security and education. She also engaged with international and immigrant communities.
Prior professional positions include serving as the Director of the State Office for United States Senator Harris Wofford, Director of Services for individuals with intellectual disabilities for a community non-profit and as an elementary school teacher in Waverly, New York.
