Biography

Currently specializing in the theory and analysis of music of contemporary Polish composers. Member of the editorial board of the Polish Music Journal (Univ. of Southern California) and editorial board member and contributor to the international journal, Studies in Penderecki. Founding editor of Music Theory: Explorations and Applications. A textbook devoted to 20th-Century Counterpoint is in progress.

A collection of more than 100 items owned by German-American composer Paul Hindemith, including personal letters, rare photographs, sketches, programs, autographed books and other items, were dedicated at Duquesne University's Gumberg Library on September 5, 2007. This collection was bequeathed to Duquesne University by Phyllis Flick, a close friend of the composer and his wife. Flick was also a close friend of Carolyn Bruno Shankovich and Dr. Robert Shankovich.
