Biography
Rosanna Henry has been at Duquesne University for 18 years. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Carlow University and a Master of Science in Nursing at The Pennsylvania State University. Her areas of concentrations included Older Adult Health and Nursing Education. As the Director of the newly opened Learning and Simulation Center and as an Instructor, she has taught a variety of courses and clinical labs such as Nursing Technologies, Fundamentals of Nursing, Medical -Surgical Nursing, Gerontological Nursing, Health Assessment, NCLEX Preparation, and Human Growth and Development. Responsibilities include the education of undergraduate students in the classroom, clinical and simulation lab settings, and as the online administrator for the critical thinking and NCLEX preparation testing programs.
Professor Henry's interests have been in the area of clinical skill acquisition and clinical simulation. She received her initial simulation training under the direction of Dr. Lori Schumacher of the Medical College of Georgia. She has attended numerous workshops and conferences to enhance her knowledge of clinical simulation in nursing. Professor Henry has applied years of leadership and simulation experience and led the design, construction and development of a new state of the art facility. She has worked with senior administrators, architects, project managers, vendors and donors to develop this entirely new facility with the latest technologies, advanced recording systems and high fidelity simulators.
Professor Henry has also developed and implemented many nursing simulations. She is responsible for overseeing all activities of the center. The center currently sees approximately 500 undergraduate and 100 graduate nursing students per semester for scheduled laboratory experiences, simulation activities, skills competencies, clinical make up and open lab sessions. Her responsibilities also include interfacing both full and part time faculty teaching in the center. She is a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International, Delta Epsilon Sigma, and the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation in Nursing, The Society for Simulation in Healthcare, The National League for Nursing, and has presented at numerous nursing national and international conferences.
