Update on COVID-19 Testing Plans
The University has identified a focused increase of 13 positive COVID-19 cases in resident students. Protocols in place helped ensure swift identification.
The number of individuals meeting the threshold for contact tracing is small. At the moment, all positive cases are in isolation, and all contacts are in quarantine.
Residence Life and Health Services all responded swiftly and according to our protocols in containing the situation, protecting those impacted as well as the entire campus community.
As a next step in its testing protocols, Duquesne will begin mandatory testing of all resident students, beginning next week. This entire process will take several weeks, and details and order of testing will be announced later today.
The University’s facilities team will continue its rigorous cleaning practices. Please refer to the University’s COVID-19 Planning and Information page for daily status updates and other information.
The relatively low number of cases University-wide indicates that our preventive measures are working. All of us must continue to commit to the Protect Duquesne pledge, practice good hygiene, maintain proper social distancing and wear masks. Be smart about your gatherings and keep them virtual or, if they must be in person, to small groups. Please be reminded that travel off campus to your homes or other locations for weekends is strongly discouraged, and you are required to quarantine for 14 days if you choose to do so.
Thank you all for continuing to keep the Protect Duquesne pledge and to stay safe so that we stay here.
