Sigma Kappa was founded on November 9th, 1874 in Waterville, Maine. The Kappa Mu chapter was founded in 2006 at Duquesne University. Sigma Kappa's national philanthropies are Inherit the Earth, Maine Sea Coast Mission, Gerontology and Alzheimer's Disease Research, and the Sigma Kappa Foundation.
The Kappa Mu chapter strives to attend as many events on campus as possible, to support other organizations and other chapters philanthropic and Panhellenic events. These women host multiple events during the year such as Ultra Violet Challenge (UVC), and Cut Out for Alzheimer's to raise money for our philanthropies.
At National Convention, this chapter won the award for Outstanding Public Relations for 2015. Here on campus, there are currently over 80 active members in this chapter. Their sisterhood is built upon friendships that last a lifetime. These are a group of girls who support, encourage and motivate one another.
They value personal growth, friendship, service and loyalty; bound by a promise.
Chapter President: Mary Jo Palko
