The Center for Career Development offers a wide variety of services and resources to assist online students in working toward their career goals.
Distance Career Counseling
Distance career counseling offers the convenience of being able to work with a career consultant regardless of your location. Currently we offer communication through email and telephone appointments, in addition to in-person appointments if you are in the Pittsburgh area. Students make appointments through Handshake (duq.joinhandshake.com) where, as a student, you already have an account.
The Center's staff reviews career documents such as resumes, CVs, cover letters, and personal statements. If you have questions and would like to discuss your documents with your career consultant, please make an appointment through Handshake. Ideally, your consultant should have had time to review your documents to ensure that your conversations are productive and effective. We also automatically review all resumes uploaded to Handshake and email feedback as appropriate.
Major and Career Exploration
Your career consultant can assist with your exploration of careers through the Strong Interest Inventory online assessment. Please make an appointment through Handshake to discuss this with your career consultant.
Handshake - our platform for your job & internship search!
Handshake is the Center for Career Development's online system that assists Duquesne University students and alumni with their job and internship search. Currently enrolled students are automatically uploaded into Handshake. Login to Handshake by using your Duquesne Multipass username and password.
Handshake offers additional benefits besides being an online database for jobs and internships.
