From the Director of the Office of Commuter Affairs

Dear Commuting Student,

As a commuting student you are part of a very large and diverse group of students. Duquesne recognizes that commuting students face many challenges and have special needs. In an effort to support and assist all commuter students Duquesne established the Office of Commuter Affairs in 1986. While Duquesne is not the only University to have an office specifically geared towards serving commuter students, we believe that our program is one of the very best in the country. One example of Duquesne's commitment to commuter students was the creation of a Commuter Center that officially opened in the fall of 1997. The Commuter Center is truly a "home away from home" for many of our commuting students.

As the Director of Commuter Affairs the best advice that I can provide to you is to utilize the facilities contained in the Commuter Center and to become an active and participating member of the Duquesne community. There are endless opportunities in which you may become involved. Once you decide to get involved, you will be on your way to making your experience at Duquesne one of the best adventures you will ever have. If you were to ask a commuting student what it was that made their experience at Duquesne so wonderful, they would be quick to respond - their involvement at the University.

I sincerely hope that during your time at Duquesne you will take time to explore all the opportunities and possibilities that await you. If you should ever have a question, concern or just do not know where to go for assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me in the Office of Commuter Affairs, room 115 in the Duquesne Union or at 412.396.6660 or through email at lewis@duq.edu.

The Office of Commuter Affairs staff is here to serve you. I do hope that I have the opportunity to meet you.
