Frequently Asked Questions
When can I move into my room?
Move-In for all new students will be Tuesday, August 20, 2019.
Can I move into my room before August 20?
No, the Office of Residence Life is preparing rooms in the Living Learning Centers until immediately before move-in begins. Unfortunately, they cannot accommodate any exceptions to the move-in schedule. All housing accomodations and requests should be made to the Office of Residence Life at (412) 396 - 6655.
How will I get all of my belongings from my car to my room?
Once you arrive on campus, a group of team leaders from Orientation will be waiting with carts to help you transport all of your items to your room. To make the move more efficient, please be sure to label all of your items with your name, building, and room number.
Do I have to come to Orientation?
All new students, freshman and transfer, are expected to attend Orientation from August 20-25, 2019. There are certain events listed as mandatory in the schedule, and those are enforced by various offices on campus. There are plenty of fun and exciting events planned over the course of the week that you will not want to miss.
Is there Orientation for my parents?
Yes, there are several Orientation programs designed specifically for parents.
When and where do I get my DU Card?
You can get your ID picture taken at the summer FAST program. If you do not attend that program, the DU Card Center will be open normal business hours during the week of Orientation so you can get your ID picture taken then. We recommend doing this as soon as you settle in on campus!
Is it normal to feel nervous about coming to college?
Yes! Trust us, we have all been there and felt the same apprehension that you might be feeling now. Once you get here, you'll have a whole staff of over 200 upperclassmen who are volunteering to make your transition easy. They will show you around, answer your questions, and help you feel welcome on Duquesne's Campus.
