James Matson & Daniel Smolsky
Director and Assistant Director
Hey everyone! My name is James Matson and I'll be your Director for this year's Orientation! I'm currently a senior Biochemistry major here at Duquesne, planning on going to grad school to become a Physician Assistant. I'm from a small town of only 2,000 people in central PA called Brockway, where we are well known for our one stop light in town! I like to travel whenever I can, slowly working across the globe as my college based budget allows. I never took an official campus tour at Duquesne, but as soon as I stepped foot on campus I knew I would love it. Over the last three years that feeling has only strengthened, realizing that the network of friends and more importantly family I've built is invaluable. My hopes are to help start you all off on the right foot and have as positive an experience as I've had during your first week here. I can't wait to welcome you all to Duquesne!
Hey everybody! My name is Dan Smolsky and I am the Assistant Director for this year's program! I am an economics and marketing major within the business school. I grew up a mere 2,424 miles away in Santa Clarita, California (maybe you've heard of our Netflix show!) with my triplet brother and sister as well as our older and younger sisters. I decided I wanted a change of pace from the chaos that had consumed my life and committed to Duquesne without ever having toured campus or visiting the city of Pittsburgh. In fact, my first day on campus was move-in day. I have since fallen in love fallen with this campus and our city and can attribute a lot of those feelings to our Orientation program. I am excited to welcome you all to the Duquesne family and hope your transition to college is as impactful and memorable as mine was. Go Dukes!
