Alcohol & Other Drug Information
As members of the Duquesne University community, all students are governed by laws, regulations and ordinances established by federal, state and local municipalities, as well as the Student Handbook with regard to the use of alcohol and other drugs.
Important points to remember:
- The minimum legal drinking age in the United States is 21 years old.
- Students of legal drinking age are expected to consume alcohol responsibly.
- Marijuana, whether prescribed or recreational, is not permitted on campus.
The Office of Student Conduct works in partnership with DU CARES, an educational program that addresses issues related to alcohol and other drugs.
Duquesne University is committed to providing a safe, healthy learning community for all of its members, which requires community members to participate in legal and responsible behavior surrounding the use of alcohol and/or other drugs. With that in mind, we have developed a policy inclusive of sanctions for the improper and excessive use of alcohol and other drugs that may interfere with our mission by negatively affecting the health and safety of our campus community.
