A number of Duquesne University online programs have been named among the 2020 U.S. News and World Report Best Online Programs, including four programs from the School of Nursing.

A recognized pioneer in online graduate nursing education, Duquesne had the following programs recognized on the list:

  • Master's in Nursing Education at No. 3
  • Master's in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner at No. 5
  • Master's in Nursing for Veterans at No. 17
  • Master's in Nursing at No. 45.

"Duquesne University School of Nursing has been a leader in online education for over 20 years," said Nursing Dean Dr. Mary Ellen Glasgow. "I am very proud of our faculty and staff who are dedicated to innovative online pedagogy and online student support."

The 2020 rankings mark the first time that U.S. News included specialties in nursing education and family nurse practitioner.

In addition, Duquesne climbed 34 spots in the rankings from last year to No. 113 in the Bachelors Programs category, making the University among the top five Pennsylvania schools ranked in this category. The University also moved up 11 spots to No. 68 in the Bachelors Programs for Veterans category. Online programs from the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business stayed at No. 82, and the School of Education ranked No. 134.

"Prospective students now have a lot of options when choosing an online undergraduate or graduate program," said Anita Narayan, managing editor of education at U.S. News. "For people looking for more flexibility as they pursue their higher education goals, U.S. News has information on relevant factors like accreditation, graduation rates and student support services."

U.S. News, considered a global authority in education, evaluated more than 1,600 online bachelor's and master's degree programs in seven disciplines. The methodologies for the rankings consider factors such as student engagement, faculty credentials, and student services and technology.
