A number of Duquesne University programs have been recognized in U.S. News and World Report's 2021 Best Graduate School rankings. Data used in the rankings are based on in-depth statistical surveys conducted in fall 2019 and early 2020.

While the methodology for each field may differ, according to U.S. News, "one commonality...is that they assess both the preparedness of a school's incoming students and the career or academic outcomes of a school's graduates."

For the third consecutive year, the School of Nursing master's program has climbed in the rankings. It is up two spots from last year to No. 62. In addition, the school's Doctor of Nursing Practice is ranked at No. 83.

This year, the School of Law is ranked at No. 129, and its part-time program is at No. 44. The school's legal writing program is again rated among the nation's Top 30 programs at No. 29. The school's signature trial advocacy program soared nearly 30 spots to No. 78, along with the environmental law program at No. 116 (up 23 spots) and the clinical training program at No. 136 (up 21 spots).

The School of Pharmacy is ranked No. 43, experiencing a four-spot jump, while the part-time MBA program in the Palumbo-Donohue School of Business increased by 30 spots to No. 158. Programs in the John G. Rangos School of Health Sciences that have increased in the rankings include occupational therapy at No. 29 (up 15 spots) and speech-language pathology at No. 55 (up 14 spots). The school's physical therapy program is ranked No. 83.

The School of Education was ranked No. 163, and the clinical psychology program in the McAnulty College and Graduate School of Liberal Arts was ranked No. 146.
