Best of the Bluff, Season One: Sextet in the City
This concert will feature Mary Pappert School of Music faculty and members of the
Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra playing the music of German composer Johannes Brahms.
The repertoire will include Two Sextets for Strings, Sextet for Piano and Winds, and Introduction and Allegro. During the pre-concert discussion, Interim Dean David Allen Wehr will chat with
violinist David Harding about his chamber music career.

Guest Artist Performance: Navy Brass Quintet
The world-renowned Navy Band Brass Quintet will stop at Duquesne on its 2019 National
Tour. Since 1971, the Navy Band Brass Quintet has performed at ceremonies and events
throughout the Washington, D.C. area, including high visibility performances at the
White House, Pentagon, State Department and Washington Navy Yard. The quintet's repertoire
includes over 400 works spanning six centuries, with many compositions arranged by
its members.

Best of the Bluff, Season One: Beethoven at 250, Part One
This concert will feature Mary Pappert School of Music faculty and performers from
the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) playing the works of Ludwig van Beethoven.
Over the next two concert seasons, much of Beethoven's solo piano and chamber music
will be re-visited. In this concert, PSO Principal Cellist Anne Martindale Williams
joins Interim Dean David Allen Wehr for Beethoven's first and last cello-piano sonatas.
Williams and Wehr will engage in the pre-concert discussion.
