Veteran's Consortium Book Club at Duquesne University will host a discussion about war stories soldiers often struggle to share.
The conversation will take place on Friday, Feb. 15, from noon to 2 p.m. in the Gumberg Library's fourth-floor Popular Reading Room. Participants will discuss Kevin Sites' The Things They Cannot Say, which compiles the war experiences of 11 servicemen.
Using grant funds, Duquesne's Gumberg Library purchased a collection of resources to establish the book club, which addresses the social, economic, physical and psychological issues veterans face in their transition to civilian and student life.
The book club is designed to foster an awareness among military students, staff and faculty by engaging Duquesne's campus in shared conversation. Print and digital versions of the book are available on a first-come first-served basis.
The book club is co-hosted by the School of Nursing, the Office of Military and Veteran Students, and Gumberg Library. To learn more about the book club or the hosting organizations, visit www.duq.edu/gi-nursing.
