Bettis, Children's Hospital Hold Asthma Sports Camp at DU
The inaugural Asthma Sports Camp, sponsored by Children’s Hospital’s Asthma Center, the Jerome Bettis Bus Stops Here Foundation and the American Respiratory Alliance will teach children with asthma how to be physically active in a safe environment.
The free camp is for children in Grades 3-8 and will include educational activities, asthma-themed games of Jeopardy and bingo and afternoon sports activities supervised by Bettis, a former Pittsburgh Steelers running back who has asthma.
Also at the camp is Dr. Shean Aujla, pediatric pulmonologist of the Asthma Center of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh UPMC.
Tuesday, July 7, and Wednesday, July 8
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day
Duquesne University’s Arthur J. Rooney Athletic Field off Bluff Street
Jerome Bettis will attend the camp and work with campers on sports drills after noon each day of the camp.
