Duaime Re-Elected to Lead Spiritan’s U.S. Province
Members of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit Province of the United States recently re-elected the Rev. Jeffrey T. Duaime, C.S.Sp., as provincial for a second three-year term. Duaime's re-election took place during the U.S. Province's triennial general assembly.
"It's an opportunity to be of service to the congregation and to the members," said Duaime, who was first elected provincial in 2012 after serving as provincial for what was then the East Province from 2004-2009. "For that to have happened (at the assembly) in the context of the prayer and discussions that we had and in the great spirit-I feel humbled and empowered to continue my work as provincial."
In his role as provincial, Duaime oversees the 89 members of the Spiritans' U.S. Province whose work finds them throughout the country as well as oversees in locations including Vietnam, the Philippines, South Africa and Tanzania.
The Congregation of the Holy Spirit founded Duquesne University in 1878. As provincial, Duaime serves as chair of the Duquesne University Corporation and is also an ex officio of the University's board of directors.
Duaime, who resides at the Province headquarters in Bethel Park, is a native of Philadelphia.
Founded in 1878, Duquesne is consistently ranked among the nation's top Catholic universities for its award-winning faculty and tradition of academic excellence.
