Richland Senior Receives Mind, Heart and Spirit Award

Duquesne University has named Steven Tucker as a recipient of the Mind, Heart and Spirit Award, which acknowledges and promotes outstanding student athletes from local high schools.A senior from Richland Senior High School, Tucker is recognized for academics in the classroom, community service and exuding sportsmanship on the field. Ranked first out of 123 seniors, Tucker maintains highest honors in an advanced honors curriculum.

Tucker’s accomplishments include being named Richland Cross-Country’s Gatorade Player of the Year, and serving as co-captain for both the basketball and tennis teams. Steven is president of his senior class, a volunteer for the Salvation Army and was selected to take part in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine.

A native of Johnstown, Steven is a son of Steven Sr. and Judy Tucker.

The Mind, Heart and Spirit Award is announced at Steelers home games at Heinz Field. Seven honorees will be chosen and receive prizes provided by Duquesne University and the Pittsburgh Steelers Radio Network. One grand-prize winner selected from among the seven honorees will receive a $26,000 Duquesne University scholarship and on-field recognition by a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers organization. The Mind, Heart and Spirit Award is sponsored by Duquesne University, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Steelers Radio Network.
