Reinstatement of Benefits
Occasionally the University has the opportunity to rehire individuals who have formerly worked with the University. The Office of Human Resource Management may restore benefits when a full-time, exempt or non-exempt employee is reinstated in a full-time exempt or non-exempt under specific conditions.
This procedure applies to exempt or non-exempt employees that are reinstated in a full-time exempt or non-exempt position. In order for the procedure, the employee must meet the following two conditions.
A. The employee had more than one year of full-time, continuous service prior to leaving the University.
B. The employee returns to full-time work within one year from the last day worked.
When the employee returns to work, service will be viewed as continuous. The original hire date will continue to be considered as the hire date and serve as the anniversary date when benefits are calculated. Benefits are available to the rehire as listed below.
Available Benefits for the Rehire:
|Sick/Disbaility||Same as when the employee resigned. Would not have to re-qualify for Long Term Disability.||Remaining sick days as of last day worked would be put into the bank up to a maximum of 10 days. The employee will continue to earn sick days based on years of service.|
Employee will be eligible for vacation on the next anniversary on a pro-rate basis.
*Nine (9) month positions do not receive vacation.
