Duquesne University Retirees Association (DURA)

Join us and stay connected to the University community.

  • Take day trips to new and exciting places
  • Enjoy dinner and a show - local and out-of-town venues
  • Hear guest speakers or live entertainment at catered luncheons
  • Visit campus and meet up with former co-workers

DURA provides members with two catered lunches on campus each year, one in the Spring and the other at Christmas time. Entertainment or a guest speaker is provided.

Members can attend two or three off-campus outings each year; usually a bus trip in fall and spring and a theater outing.

As membership grows additional activities may be offered.

Message from Our New President - Terry Tatrai

On May 14, DURA members and friends took a bus trip to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA.   Lunch was provided by the Pine Grill in Somerset and on the way home, the travelers stopped at Sharky's Grill in Latrobe for happy hour. On September 24, by popular demand, DURA members and guests took a bus trip to wine country in North East PA and Western New York. Lunch was provided at the restaurant, Noosa North East. Travelers also stopped for happy hour in Grove City at Timbercreek Tap and Table.

The DURA Christmas 2019 luncheon was enjoyed by retirees on December 19 in Duquesne's Africa Room. President Ken Gormley spoke to DURA members and guests before the luncheon. Make sure to see the group photo with President Ken Gormley on the Events page.

At the luncheon, questionaires were distributed to members for feedback on future DURA trips. The results are being tallied, and the next trip will reflect those results!

Board members are working to make future trips and luncheons enjoyable for everyone. They welcome new ideas, so please share your thoughts with them.

Please encourage your friends to join us. Be sure to check out our web pages at: www.duq.edu/retirees for upcoming and past events.

The annual dues are $20. Our new Treasurer, John Sucha, has made some great improvements. Dues can now be paid online.

You can also pay by check. Make it payable to Duquesne University and send it to:

John Sucha
112 Tillotson Circle
Pittsburgh, PA 15237

Our annual dues help with covering entertainment, keeping the cost of on-campus lunches reasonable, and other DURA expenses. We strive to keep the cost on all events as low as possible. We hope that you will continue to support our events.

Yours sincerely,

Terry Tatrai
