Kevin Miller

Kevin joined LegalSifter after nearly nine years at Industrial Scientific Corporation, a global safety company committed to ending death on the job by the end of the century. Kevin completed his tenure as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to ISC, he helped launch an online version of a regionally-accredited Argosy University, with bachelors', masters', and doctoral programs in business, education, and psychology. Kevin also spent nearly six years in a variety of roles at FreeMarkets and Ariba, its acquirer, in the global sourcing and procurement software space. Kevin holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Law, a Master of Business Administration degree from the Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Davidson College. Kevin is also a licensed attorney in the state of Ohio.

William J. Permar

Bill holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh, is a graduate of Duquesne's Paralegal Institute and worked as a paralegal for 15 years. He since has served as the firm-wide paralegal Manager for Eckert Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC where he had broad responsibilities for overall management of more than 70 paralegals among multiple markets. Later, he served as the corporate-wide Paralegal Manager for Alcoa, Inc. Presently, he is responsible for general Administration of Saul Ewing Arnstein & Lehr, LLP's Pittsburgh Office. Bill currently sits on the Board of the Pittsburgh Legal Administrators Association and is a member of three PLAA committees.

Christine Pink

Christine Pink works full-time as a Paralegal in the Capital Habeas Unit (CHU) at the Federal Public Defender's Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania. The CHU represents death row inmates in their federal habeas appeal.  Mrs. Pink is primarily responsible for gathering documents related to the client, their family and the case, as well as organizing those documents in a document management database.  

Mrs. Pink has a Bachelor's Degree from Youngstown State University and earned a Paralegal Certificate from the Duquesne University Paralegal Institute in 2008. She started out in labor and employment defense and has worked in various other civil litigation areas such as asbestos, personal injury, and medical malpractice before working for the Federal Public Defender in 2010.

Abbie Steiner

Abbie Steiner joins the Advisory Board as a Duquesne Paralegal Certificate graduate. Abbie holds a Bachelors of Law (LLB) from Nottingham Trent University, England. She also attended The University of Geneva in Switzerland studying international humanitarian law in the summer of 2013. After graduating from the Duquesne Paralegal program in 2017 she worked as a legal assistant in family law. Currently, Abbie works in multiple areas of law as a Docketing Specialist for Reed Smith, LLP. Her day to day activities include docketing civil litigation at both state and federal level as well as researching civil procedures across all 50 states.

Mary Welsh

Mary Welsh helps law firms and corporate legal departments in the Pittsburgh area with legal staffing and managed solutions every day. Mary joined Special Counsel in 2005, bringing over 18 years of legal experience within multiple practice areas at two prestigious Pittsburgh firms. She put her industry knowledge to work as a Special Counsel legal staffing recruiter before being promoted to Vice President.  Mary was promoted to Executive Director in 2014 and now oversees all legal recruiting and business development functions for Special Counsel in the Pittsburgh market. Prior to her legal solutions and corporate assistant/paralegal careers, Mary worked as a commercial mortgage underwriter for an international financial institution and as an arts educator. A Pittsburgh native, she holds a degree from Robert Morris University.
