Essay

A Personal Essay is required for Physicians Assistant Studies applicants and should discuss the following: submission of a personal essay including a statement about yourself, why you would like to become a physician assistant, and why you chose Duquesne University.  

A personal essay is recommended but not required for certain health professions programs (Athletic Training, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Speech-Language Pathology) and optional for other programs. 

Submit your essay via our application portal (after you've applied). If you choose to apply via Common App, we will accept the Common App essay for all programs listed above -- with the exception of Physician Assistant Studies.

Music Applicants

A performance audition is required for all applicants to the School of Music. View audition requirements or contact the School of Music.

Health Sciences

  • Physical Therapy - Documentation of a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer, paid, or shadowing experience in a physical therapy setting is required by August before your first year.
