Whether you're new on campus or want a change of scenery, you'll find a housing option that suits you. All transfer and current students can choose to live in the Duquesne Residence Halls or Lumina Student Apartments. There is a hall for you to make your home while you are studying at Duquesne. Housing Selection Process
Review important dates to participate in the housing selection process
- January 20: Group Housing Applications Available
- February 3: Group Housing Information Session, 7:30 p.m., Towers Multi-Purpose Room
- February 3, 4 & 5: Housing Information Sessions, 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Building Lobbies
- February 11: Open Houses, Towers & Des Places, 6:00 p.m., Building Lobbies
- February 16: Group Housing Applications Due
- February 18: Group Housing Notification, Groups notified of Group Housing status
- February 20: Group Housing Deposits Due, Group Housing Agreements Due
- February 24: Group Housing Selection
- March 10: Need a Roommate Session, 9:00 PM, Towers MPR
- March 16: General Room Selection Deposits Due, General Room Selection Housing Agreements Due
- March 18: General Room Selection Lottery, Lottery Numbers are generated and students informed of their lottery numbers
- Week of March 23: Room Selection
To select a room, current students must meet the following criteria:
- Be a current student who will be registered full-time for the fall semester
- Have a $0 student account balance or be on a payment plan with the university
- Pay a $100 non-refundable housing application fee. Application Fees must be paid online
or at the Cashier's Office on the first floor of the Administration Building

- Bring cash or check (made payable to Duquesne University)
- If paying online, you may make eCheck or credit card payments. Fees can be submitted online by logging into the Duquesne portal and clicking on "Access CASHNET." Online application fees can be submitted by logging into the Duquesne University Portal and clicking on "Student Account and Billing" and then selecting "Tuition Payment Portal", "Make a Payment" and “Application Fee – Fall 2026 Housing”.
- Please make sure that you have submitted your $100 as a housing application fee and not as a payment to your account.
- Please note: Submitting a housing deposit does not guarantee housing. A student must
be in
good financial and academic standing with the University. If there are any past due balances or
holds (financial, student account, etc.) on your account, your housing assignment may be delayed
or denied.
How to choose to live in Towers, Des Places, Assumption, St. Martin or Vickroy as a returning student.
Housing Lottery Information:
The General Housing Lottery is the process for returning students to select rooms or suites in Assumption Hall, St. Martin Hall, Vickroy Hall or the Duquesne Towers. Des Places Hall is the new home of the Honors College and will be available only for Honors College Students.
Housing Applications and Fees:
After a student has submitted their housing application fee, they will be emailed instructions on how to access the Housing Agreement. Housing Application Fees and Housing Agreements must be submitted by March 16, 2026.
Housing Lottery and Selection:
Lottery numbers will be generated and distributed on March 18, 2026, along with instructions
on how to select your room. Students and their roommate(s) will select using the better
of their lottery numbers. Room Selection will take
place the week of March 23, 2026, at your assigned time. All selection will occur
virtually in the Duquesne Housing Portal.
The lottery is based on academic standing. Current juniors and up will select first, then current sophomores, followed by current first-year students. Any students unable to receive a lottery number or room assignment will be placed on a waiting list and notified as rooms become available.
St. Martin Hall:
St. Martin Hall is the home of the Sophomore Experience Community and preference will be given to current first-year students.
Vickroy Hall:
In Vickroy Hall, you will be allowed to request a full suite based on the best lottery number among the residents choosing to live in that suite. Vickroy rooms may only be assigned as full rooms or full suites.
Assumption Hall:
Assumption Hall will be available for students who wish to select single rooms.
Juniors and above have the opportunity to choose Brottier or McGinley Hall through the Lumina Communities housing selection process.
Brottier & McGinley Halls
- January 12, 2026: Brottier Hall and McGinley Hall Application Opens (for currently not housed in Lumina Communities). Applications are found on the Lumina website. Lumina Application
- January 12, 2026: Lumina Future Housing Intention is Live (for currently housed in Lumina Communities). Forms are found on the Lumina Campus Link page.
- January 29, 2026: Lumina Future Housing Intentions Form due.
- February 5, 2026: Brottier Hall and McGinley Hall Applications, $100 non-refundable Application Fees, and $0 balance on student account due.
- February 17-21, 2026: Brottier Hall and McGinley Hall Room Selection (virtual)
How to participate in the Housing Lottery
Housing application fees and Housing Agreements must be submitted by March 16, 2026. Lottery numbers will be randomly generated and distributed on March 18, 2026.
Students and their roommate will choose housing with the better of their lottery numbers. In St. Martin and Des Places, you will be allowed to request a full suite based on the best lottery number among the residents choosing to live in that suite.
Des Places Hall Reminder:
Des Places Hall is reserved for students in the Duquesne Honors College. Students who are not members of the Honors College can live in Des Places with a friend who is part of the Honors College.
Group Housing is an opportunity for large groups of students to choose their Towers community
Students participating in Group Housing can submit a request to reside on an entire wing (24 or 25 students) and if approved, will be placed in the Towers based on the availability of space.
Group Housing Applications:
Applications for Group Housing can be found on the Duquesne Services Portal in the
Student Services area. Group Housing applications must be submitted by February 16, 2026. Questions regarding Group Housing can be emailed to grouphousingFREEDUQUESNE.
- Once applications are approved, each group can choose an area/wing. Each resident will need to submit their $100 housing application fee and will be provided a link to complete the electronic housing agreement.
- Group Housing Deposits and Housing Agreements must be submitted by February 20, 2026.
- Approved Groups will be able to select their rooms on February 24, 2026. If you participate in Group Housing, you will not participate in the Room Lottery.

All first-year students and sophomores are required to live on campus in accordance with the Duquesne University Campus Residency Policy.
The Campus Residency Policy and Waiver Request and Notarization Form can be found in the Duquesne Student Handbook.
All students who will commute from home must complete the Campus Residency Waiver Request in the Duquesne Services Portal. The form must be completed to be considered for exemption. Any student who does not submit a housing application or an approved residency waiver will be automatically assigned to housing on July 1.
All Transfer and Current Students are invited to choose to live in one of Duquesne's
housing options for students in their second, third, fourth, and more year at Duquesne.
Many current students will choose to live with a group of their friends in a Towers
Wing. Des Places also offers suites with two, four, and six possible roommates, an
in-suite bathroom, and other exciting building amenities. If you are more interested
in apartment style living you can learn more about Lumina Communities below. Des Places offers current and transfer students the opportunity to live with a group
of friends or other students who choose to live on campus. Duquesne Towers also offers
groups of students the opportunity to choose to live in a Towers wing together. Duquesne University partners with Lumina Communities to offer transfer and current
students apartment style living on campus. The Lumina Communities offer the best of
both worlds – the social experience of campus life and the independent nature of apartment-style
living. Prepare for exams in one of our many study lounges, go for a run in one of
our 24-hour fitness centers, and indulge in a potluck in our buildings' unique community
