REGISTER FOR FALL 2024 CLASSES

Registration times, course schedules, planning tools, and other resources are available for you in DORI.

Course Schedules

The Fall 2024 day and evening class schedules will be posted online and in DORI when finalized. The course schedules are also visible in DORI. All elective courses must have ten or more students registered for the course to proceed for the semester. We reserve the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment and to make other changes to the class schedule due to unforeseen circumstances. Course descriptions are also available online and in DORI. There are a few new courses being offered next semester, and those course descriptions will be added as they're received.

Registering in DORI

Students may register for required and elective courses in DORI, regardless of division; however, day and evening students will be given registration preference for courses in their respective divisions. To register, log into DORI and select the following: Self Service Banner > Registration and Planning > Register for Classes.

Registration Planning

Students can keep track of their academic progress by using the RAPP (Review Academic Program Progress) tool in DORI. The tool keeps track of classes and requirements you have already completed and items you still need to complete for graduation. Please note Upper Level Writing and Experiential Learning requirements will not be listed as complete until after final grades are received for those courses. Also, this is not an official degree audit and should be used for planning purposes only. RAPP can be accessed on your Student Profile in DORI.

Full-time day students must register for a minimum of 10 credits per semester and cannot register for more than 17 credits in one semester. Evening and Part-time day students must register for a minimum of 8 credits per semester and cannot register for more than 13 credits in one semester.

Students enrolled in a joint degree or micro-credential program must register for the minimum number of School of Law credits (8 or 10 depending on your division) to maintain residence in the School of Law.

Our residency requirement states that full-time day students must attend the School of Law for 6 semesters and evening and part-time day students must attend for 8 semesters. Students are not permitted to accelerate their graduation date by taking extra credits in any semester.

Students should review the Required and Recommended Class Sequence for their specific division before registering for classes. This sequence is designed to ensure that each student will have an opportunity to register for all bar examination courses without experiencing course or examination conflicts. If you're registering for a two-part course, you must register for the same professor and section in both semesters.

Students should also review the final exam schedule to avoid any exam conflicts later in the semester. The tentative Fall 2024 final exam schedule will be available prior to the registration period. An email will be sent once it's available.

Clinic and Externship Registration

Students may register online for any law clinic or program through DORI during the fall semester. In the spring, students may register for any one-semester law clinics or programs through DORI, but the School of Law Registrar will automatically register students for the spring portion of any two-semester clinic or program.

Students are unable to register for externships online. However, you may register for an externship seminar to show your interest in completing an externship during a particular semester. Please contact Professor%20Grace%20Orsatti or Mrs.%20Beth%20Licciardello for additional information.

Core Competencies Registration

All part-time day and evening division students are required to register for a 3-credit section of Core/Applied Competencies I and II during their final year. Day division students that finished in the bottom 1/3 of their first year class are also required to register for a 3-credit section of these courses during their final year. The School of Law Registrar will automatically register those students for the same section of the course during fall and spring registration. Students who are not required to take a 3-credit section can register for the 2-credit version on their own through DORI, if interested.

Faculty Advisors

Students will have the same faculty advisor throughout their time at the School of Law unless the faculty member leaves the University. Students will receive an email from the School of Law Registrar's Office with details about his or her faculty advisor prior to the registration period for each semester. Students are not required to meet with their advisor before registering for classes, but they can be a helpful resource when making course selections.

If you have questions about registration, please contact our office at lawregFREEDUQUESNE.
