Biography
Dr. Gionfriddo received his Pharm.D. from Wilkes University, then went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to complete his Ph.D. in Biomedical Science with a concentration in Clinical and Translation Science.
In his Ph.D., Dr. Gionfriddo worked in the Knowledge and Evaluation Research Unit (Overview - Knowledge and Evaluation Research Unit - Mayo Clinic Research) under Dr. Victor Montori. After his Ph.D., Dr. Gionfriddo worked in the Center for Pharmacy Innovation and Outcomes (Center for Pharmacy Innovation and Outcomes [geisinger.edu]).

Dr. Gionfriddo's expertise is in evidence synthesis and patient-centered care with a focus on healthcare communication. Dr. Gionfriddo's current work utilizes mixed methods to evaluate and improve the medication use process which includes: evidence generation, guideline development, prescribing, dispensing, and adherence. Dr. Gionfriddo has presented nationally and internally, published several book chapters, and his work has influenced guidelines, been published in high impact journals such as the BMJ, and has been cited over 3,000 times (Google Scholar, h-index 26).
