Dr. Gionfriddo received his Pharm.D. from Wilkes University, then went to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota to complete his Ph.D. in Biomedical Science with a concentration in Clinical and Translational Science. 

In his Ph.D., Dr. Gionfriddo worked in the Knowledge and Evaluation Research Unit under Dr. Victor Montori. Prior to joining the faculty at Duquesne University, Dr. Gionfriddo worked in the Center for Pharmacy Innovation and Outcomes at Geisinger, a large integrated healthcare delivery system in northeastern and central Pennsylvania.

Profile Information

Dr. Gionfriddo is an expert in evidence syntheses and shared decision making whose current work utilizes mixed methods to evaluate and improve the medication use process. Dr. Gionfriddo has presented nationally and internationally, published several book chapters, and his work has influenced guidelines, been published in high impact journals such as the BMJ, and has been cited over 5000 times (Google Scholar, h-index 32). Dr. Gionfriddo is also co-PI of a grant funded by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke to improve rigor in research through creating educational modules related to evidence synthesis.
