About the Center
For more than 25 years, Duquesne University has been a leader in supply chain management education, garnering regional and national recognition. The Center for Excellence in Supply Chain Management focuses on the ways that information systems and technology can enhance the management of complex, integrated supply chains.
Supply Chain Management students learn how to improve the overall effectiveness and efficiency of supply chains by using advanced planning, scheduling, procurement, management, transportation, and warehouse management software
SAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, the industry gold standard for core business functions, is used by Fortune 500 companies worldwide. SAP ERP is integrated into the curricula of several courses, allowing students to gain experience in purchasing, inventory, sales order management, production management, and financial transactions.
The Center also houses six labs where students can simulate presentations and negotiations between buyers and sellers. Students can record and evaluate their performance to sharpen their skills.

SAP Student Recognition Award
The Center offers an SAP Student Recognition Award co-sponsored by SAP University Alliance. To qualify, students must complete three classes that include at least 30% SAP content. To earn the award, students use SAP to perform a business simulation that demonstrates their knowledge of supply chain management operations.
Mentoring Program
The Supply Chain Management Mentoring Program connects students with experienced professionals—many of whom are proud Duquesne alumni. Each student is carefully matched with a mentor whose career aligns with the student’s interests and goals. Mentors and mentees meet once or twice per month during the academic year to discuss professional development and career opportunities.
Information Systems and Supply Chain Direct
At this annual networking event, Supply Chain Management and Information Systems and Technology students meet professionals from top companies and explore internship and job opportunities.
Annual Case Competition
Sponsored by the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM), students from the tri-state area work in teams to develop a solution to a supply chain management challenge while competing for $9,000 in prize money.
Partnership with the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM)
ASCM is a global leader dedicated to organizational transformation, innovation, and leadership in supply chain management. In partnership with ASCM, the Center offers APICS certification courses. Membership in ASCM is required to take the courses and exams.

Partnership with the Institute for Supply Management (ISM)
In partnership with the ISM Pittsburgh Chapter, the Center offers executive education and Continuing Education Hours (CEH) on key industry topics like artificial intelligence, data analytics, supplier performance auditing, and more.
